Food insecurity and lack of access to healthy food are problems that many low-income families in Oregon communities experience.
Our Double Up Food Bucks is an incentive program that matches SNAP (food assistance) dollars spent at The La Grande Farmers Markets so SNAP recipients have greater access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
Stretch your Food Dollars with Double Up Food Bucks
Get more fruits and vegetables when you spend your Oregon Trail Card SNAP dollars at the La Grande Farmers Market. It’s easy with Double Up Food Bucks! For example, if you spend $20 of your SNAP dollars at a participating farmers market, we will give you another $20 to buy more locally grown fruits and vegetables.
What can be bought with
DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS?
DUFB can buy: Any variety of fresh, dried, or frozen fruits and vegetables without added sugars, fats, oils, or salt.
Includes mushrooms, herbs, beans, and vegetable starts.
NOT ELIGIBLE to be purchased with DUFB: NUTS, grains, meat, eggs, cheese, baked goods, prepared foods, fermented foods, salsa, pickles jams, jellies, honey, cider, or other foods that do not fit into the above guidelines; nonfood items.
SNAP benefits can still be used for other fresh food items,
such as meats, cheeses, eggs and bread.
Farm Direct Nutrition Program
The Oregon Farm Direct Nutrition Program is a state-administered, federal nutrition program serving families enrolled in the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program and income-eligible seniors. Farm Direct participants receive $4 vouchers to spend on fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and cut edible herbs directly with authorized farmers. These vouchers go directly to the vendor, and they cannot give change for them. The LGFM staff do not handle these vouchers, please take them DIRECTLY to the vendor!
